Every year, 9 million teenage girls around the world are forced into sexual intercourse or other sexual acts.* Over the course of her lifetime, one in every three women is beaten, coerced into sex or abused in some other way.**

Women like Mary, who was attacked fleeing South Sudan, and has received counselling from CARE. Women like Garcia, who at the age of 16 was gang-raped in her village in DRC, and then suffered additional trauma from the associated stigma in her community – stigmas CARE is working to break down.

Enough is enough. Women and girls everywhere deserve to live in safety and free from fear. We know what works and we need your help.

Add your voice to the fight to end violence against women. Everywhere.

CARE works in 95 countries to create a safer, more equal world for women and girls. We work with families, community leaders and governments to change the laws and attitudes that have allowed violence against women to continue for too long.

And when it does occur, we’re there for the survivors – helping them access healthcare, find a safe place to stay and seek justice for what has been done to them.
